Privacy policy

In short: UniApp24 has no accounts and no server for your study data. Everything you create – courses, units, images, progress, to-dos – stays in your browser’s storage (localStorage and IndexedDB) on your device. Anonymous usage statistics are collected only if you agree. We do not set cookies.

Hosting

The website is served by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit, Vercel processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, requested file, browser) in server logs to deliver the site and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel may process data in the USA on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, supplemented by standard contractual clauses.

Usage statistics

To see which pages are used and how fast they load, we use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. They count pages viewed (without the part of the address after “#”), referrer, country, device type, browser, operating system and loading times. Vercel sets no cookies for this and builds no cross-device profiles; visits are grouped by a hash that changes daily and are not permanently linked to a person. Nothing is stored on or read from your device for this. The contents of your courses and units are never transmitted. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working, user-friendly service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR): Settings → Usage statistics → “Off”; the scripts are then no longer loaded on this device. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, they stay off automatically.

Your study data

The app stores courses, units, pasted images, progress and settings only locally in your browser. They are not transmitted. You can save them as a file at any time (Settings → Backup) and remove them completely by clearing the site data in your browser.

AI services (ChatGPT, Claude and others)

To create a unit, the app writes a text (prompt). You open it yourself in an AI service of your choice and attach your material there. The app uploads nothing – prompt and material go only to the service you open, under its privacy terms. Only upload material you are allowed to share.

Sharing

When you share a unit, card set or course, it happens without our server: either the content is compressed into the link itself – in the part after “#”, which browsers never send to a server – or you send a file directly via a messenger or email service of your choice. We receive no data. Your name (if given) is only in the link or file. Study progress and statistics are never shared. The privacy terms of the service you choose for sending apply.

Fonts

All fonts are shipped with the app; there is no connection to Google Fonts or any other third party.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and withdrawal of consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany. Since we receive no study data from you, this in practice concerns the hoster’s server logs and the anonymous usage statistics.
