Meditation timer with singing bowl

For everyone who doesn’t need a voice: choose a length, the singing bowl rings once to begin, softly every five minutes and at the end. In between only silence – or a quiet sound bed when it’s noisy around you.

How it works

  1. 1Choose a length: 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes.
  2. 2Optionally switch on the sound bed – it covers noise without disturbing.
  3. 3Sit comfortably and upright, the singing bowl opens.
  4. 4Meditate the way you’re used to; every five minutes a soft strike reminds you of the time.
  5. 5At the end the bowl sounds once more – take a moment, then tap the mood field.

Why a timer helps

If you watch the clock, you’re not with your breath. A timer takes away the question “how much longer?” – you can forget time completely. The interval bell every five minutes brings you back if you’ve drifted off, without waking you up.

How long to meditate?

Five to ten minutes are enough to start. More helps mainly when you practise regularly – most mindfulness studies use daily practice over weeks. If you’re unsure, begin with the guided breathing meditation or the body scan.

Runs entirely in your browser

No app, no account, no ads. The singing bowl is generated live in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Tip: keep the screen on and turn your phone face down – or just use your laptop at your desk before you start studying.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer run with the screen off?

Safest with the screen on: some phones pause web pages in the background. On a laptop it keeps running in another tab.

Can I turn off the interval bells?

They only ring every five minutes, and softly. If you want nothing at all, choose 5 minutes – then there is only a start and an end.

What do I do in the silence?

Whatever you know: watch the breath, a body scan, just sitting. If you’d like guidance, take the guided breathing meditation.
